Playing needs no account. Your progress, times and streaks are saved in this browser.
If you sign in, your progress is also kept in your Crossword Hub account (Google Firebase) so it syncs between devices. Only you can read it. Sign-in uses your email address or Google account, and nothing else about you.
Usage statistics are optional. If you allow them, Google Analytics counts visits and which puzzles are started, finished and shared, with times, levels and hint points. It never receives your name, email or answers, and advertising features are off. You can switch it off any time in Settings, which also removes its cookies.
Challenge links carry only your time and hint points for that puzzle.
Gift crosswords live only inside their link: the clues, names and message are never stored on our servers or sent to Google Analytics. Anyone with the link can open it.
Shared puzzles (Help me solve) store the grid, the name you choose and where each player is in the grid (Google Firebase), for 7 days. Guests get a temporary anonymous account, so no sign-up or email is needed.
